Pokemon Fan Introduces Striking Swablu and Altaria Regional Variants

A dedicated Pokemon enthusiast recently unveiled their imaginative concept for a unique regional variant for Swablu and its majestic evolution, Altaria. Drawing inspiration from the original shiny forms of Swablu and Altaria, the design presents an intriguing creative twist.
Swablu, a beloved Pokemon introduced in Generation 3 of the Pokemon games, has maintained its popularity throughout the series, appearing in nearly all mainline titles since its debut. Its evolved form even received a Mega Evolution in Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. However, this fan felt that it was time for a fresh take on the Pokemon, drawing inspiration from Earth Day and the rejuvenating atmosphere of spring.
Pokemon aficionado Poetically_Imperfect, also known as Shroodledoodles, unveiled their reimagining of Swablu and Altaria, transforming them into Flying/Electric-types dubbed "The Storm Pokemon." Departing from their traditional blue and white hues, the duo adopts a striking grey and yellow color palette, reminiscent of the ominous skies of a spring rainstorm charged with lightning and thunder. Referred to as Storm Cloud Swablu, the Pokemon gains the ability Static and the Hidden Ability Drizzle. Both variations are drawn to stormy environments, though the Pokedex entry remains ambiguous regarding their role in storm formation or their affinity with electrical charges.

Notably, both Pokemon's shiny forms feature a yellow body with blue feet and lightning bolts. Shroodledoodles explained that blue lightning is a rarity among electric-types, thus opting to incorporate it into their design. The choice of a yellow body pays homage to Swablu and Altaria's original shiny forms.
With the ever-expanding roster of Pokemon in the series, not every creature receives alternative forms. Introducing regional, Mega Evolution, or Gigantamax forms for every Pokemon in each game would prove overwhelming, both in terms of development and player experience. However, fans often take it upon themselves to fill this void, expressing their creativity through fan art and designs. While the prospect of Swablu and Altaria receiving official regional forms in future Pokemon games remains uncertain, fan-created artwork like this allows players to envision the possibilities if it were to happen.
