Best type of garden fencing for a West London property?

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to update the fencing around my garden and would like some advice before getting started. I’m considering traditional timber fencing but there seem to be quite a few options, including closeboard, lap panels and decorative fence panels.

The main priorities for me are durability, privacy and keeping the garden looking tidy without spending more than necessary.

For anyone fencing in Hayes, Ealing, Hillingdon or nearby areas, what type of fencing have you used and how has it held up? Also, is it generally better to replace the posts and panels together or repair the existing fence where possible?

Any recommendations or experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!
